A juxtaposition
In grief for the women of Afghanistan tonight. It occurs to me that it’s a striking contrast with my preparations this week. The quote is from “A Thousand Splendid Suns” by Khaled Hosseini. It’s a harrowing read but an essential one.
I am left speechless with grief and rage for the people of Afghanistan.

It seems impossible to believe that this remains
in the 21st century and in a country that has such a rich history of civilisations. I understand what’s at the root of rules like this and abhor them beyond words. And it seems all we can do sit, wait and hope. None of which feel in the least constructive
I think it Weill be a long time before we can see anything constructive here. It’s overwhelmingly sad.
