And so I stagger almost to the end of this project with my penultimate entry, for February.

The temperature warmed up considerably from January, though there were a couple of cooler weeks, and rain! Lovely, lovely rain! Now, I’m aware that vast expanses of the temperate world have been battling freezing temperatures but rain arriving in subtropical parts which have been parched for months on end is a a cause for celebration for me at least. One whole day of proper rainshowers!

Some of the oranges this month show that it’s going to be another hot year, and a quick glance at the “normal” temperature at this time of year confirms that in the scariest way.

The blanket is huge and heavy. I almost ran out of yellow yarn and managed to have some delivered from the UK with just a couple of days to spare. The small mercy of not being able to return home to winter in the UK – though your snowy scenes filled me with longing to be in my kitchen making brownies or somesuch and watching the snowflakes tumble down over the garden, illuminated by patio lights – is that I didn’t have to transport this blanket with me, taking up its own suitcase and luggage allowance.
