Dying Jezebels
There were dying butterflies wherever we looked on our walk today.
Butterflies appear all year around here in Hong Kong, and DB, being relatively green, is full of them. These Redbase Jezebels (Delias pasithoe) have been around for the last few weeks but this weekend we’ve noticed them flying lower and slower, as if their batteries were running low. And today they were flapping around weakly at ground level at intervals wherever we walked. Some were already at the end of their short lives.
How sad. Are they that seasonal or has the change in temperature got to them? Oh worse still an insecticide spray?!
I think it’s just their time, Sarah. Like flowers, they’re seasonal. There’s a moral in there somewhere.
