I just launched myself into this one without too much prevarication though I had to make several attempts on the central flower which is supposed to be a chrysanthemum, significant in Chinese culture as it symbolises autum and longevity. I know that one does have to use one’s imagination to see a chrysanthemum flower but that’s what it looks like in the book, honest.
I discovered that it’s a good idea to use stitch markers at the base of each of the loops when you’re making a flower as a long row of loops to coil up and spiral, otherwise it’s easy to get the pattern wrong and come a cropper when attaching the flower to the base.
The rest was pretty straightforward, though I think I discovered an omission in the pattern when it was too late to do anything about it so one of the rounds is upside down. Still, no matter.
Anyway, this is no 22 in Betty Barnden’s 75 Crocheted Floral Blocks.
*I apologise that the image isn’t quite as good as some of the others in the project. I’ve normally used full size RAW images but they often take ages and several attempts to upload these days with the pressures on bandwidth so these are JPEG’s. I guess the difference is apparent after all.
