Very little has changed since October, though the temperatures here are now no longer red but mainly orange and pink. So much so that I had to order more skeins of these colours from London just before their second lockdown started.

Who knew when I started this project at the end of March, that we’d still be stuck here as 2020 staggered to its end? We had such plans to travel. This blanket might have been full of blues from Niseko and London and green from Canada, perhaps even some Aubergine from the Phillipines. But no, here it is. Orange and pink. Pink and orange, with a little yellow sigh of the calming down to come.

What a hot summer it’s been and how long it’s lasted! We still have the aircon on at night, or it becomes impossible to sleep.

Where previously I have had a horror of the cold or even of going North on holiday, I now long to spend time in Iceland, Finland and the Faroe Islands. Do have a look at the stunning photos on their Insta feeds if you can. Start at @Finland and explore all their linked posts. I really hope that I can go home in February via Helsinki, so I might even manage to catch a glimpse of snow from the airport terminal building. (I’m told that baggage labels have to be folded a certain way to stop them freezing and falling off while in transit. Who knows whether this is true?)
