Free space

Hong Kong, Journal

Where do you go for a relax outside in Hong Kong?

Why, The Grounds at AIA Vitality Park, that’s where. Right on Victoria Harbour, within coughing distance of the IFC mall and the Star Ferry, replacing the fairground that can no longer be used because of social distancing, is this haven of 100 socially distanced pods complete with views of a giant TV and sound stage with wifi. For a fee that varies according to the event, you can book one of 100 2.5m x 2.5m designated spaces surrounded by a white picket fence and complete with deck chair to just hang out or take part in events from film festivals to yoga classes. You’d better be quick, though. In this overcrowded city where people appear to have little concept of personal space, the pods sell out fast.
