I was clearing out my emails earlier on and I deleted one from someone I knew when I was a volunteer about the Coronavirus. At the time I didn’t bother to open it because, obviously, I’m 10,000 km away now and no longer able to volunteer and I don’t really need to look at housekeeping emails.
Today, noticing the sender’s name, I opened it. He cheerily informed us that “Boris” had just told him to stay in because of his age but that he felt fine and he’d like to keep going in to volunteer unless otherwise directed. He added that he’d take care not to endanger anyone. Two weeks later he was dead from COVID-19. Please. Stay home.
