Weeks of semi-lockdown and grey skies have given us cabin fever. It’s been a gloriously warm, sunny weekend here in Hong Kong and those of us who felt able to get out and about did. We spent yesterday in Hong Kong Park in the centre of town. The aviary was closed because of the coronavirus, sadly, but we managed some spectacular 360 degree views of Mid Levels and over the Harbour from the top of the park’s folly. Before that we stopped off in the grounds of St John’s Cathedral, sadly now partially closed for services.
Today we escaped with the boys over to Pui O towards the south of Lantau but still on this non-airport side of the island. Following the journey by ferry and taxi it was so brilliant to let them stretch their legs and run about on a clean beach for once. I don’t know why there was none of the debris, plastic, dead fish, n’importe quoi that we normally see on beaches nearer home but perhaps this bay faces more open sea. The video of Raffles gambolling in the sea makes me smile every time I watch it. They did well for old geezers. Oddly, it’s the first time I’ve shot any video with my camera so please forgive the amateurish film.
Finally we chilled for a while over lunch at in the extremely dog-friendly Treasure Island Beach Club. This veggie burger was absolutely delicious! I haven’t felt this relaxed for weeks.
