I normally hate this Positive Visualisation stuff which often seems like passive aggression when people post these things repeatedly all over Facebook to show that they’re trying to make a point when they patently don’t want to make that point to the person who needs to hear it. I’ve muted a couple of these sorts of accounts as they rile me.
Still, I’ve just seen this on Twitter, a quote from Maya Angelou, and I really like it. (Actually I looked it up and it’s a misquote of “You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.” – Letter to my Daughter. Note to self: always check your source.)
I was told earlier that my New Year’s Eve post was pretty bleak and perhaps I should try and see positive things to look forward to in the future move across the world. I thought I had. It’s all very easy to say when your purpose is clear and you’re not giving a whole bunch of stuff – your life – up to do so. But still, that’s me being a bit pass/agg so I’ll stop.
Anyway, this quote is a good thing, no?
A lot of things in life make me laugh and a lot of things in life make me angry but these are growth opportunities, in the right light, with the right perspective and a following wind.
