Today I made Nigella’s chocolate brownies as thank you gift. But they went wrong. Actually whenever I have made them, and I’ve made them numerous times, they’ve always gone wrong. Nigella specifies that they should be cooked for 25 minutes and I’ve always found them far too gooey in the middle even after 35 minutes.
Today I compounded my mistake by using a square dedicated brownie pan – you’d think that would be ok – and they were liquidy. After letting them cool so there was no chance of further cooking, I didn’t have much time before choir practice, and I wanted to ice them with letters. I began to despair and then I remembered my microwave. 8 minutes later, the brownies were of a consistency that didn’t have to be consumed via a straw.
Necessity is the mother of invention.
Good to know; will try this if it happens to me. But I see you were making the brownies from “Domestic Goddess” and I’ve never tried that recipe. I usually make the “everyday” brownies in “Kitchen” and haven’t had a problem with them yet.
I’ve made those too but the ones in Domestic Goddess are adult rated sexy ones!
I must give them a go.
