Such a busy day that I’ve had no time to think of anything about which to write. (I despise the dangling participle as much as the next person but you’ve got to admit, that sentence did sound a little clumsy.)

Reception volunteer at music school this morning followed by volunteering shift this afternoon. And then Some Like it Hot, one of my favourite films, this evening.

In between, laundry and I managed to hook up with a replacement accompanist for my diploma exam which, I discovered yesterday, is in less than a month. I am terrified.

I need to practise and practise and practise and, if necessary, lets everything else slip while I prioritise this. Life has got in the way too much recently.  I shall need to impress my accompanist as well as my examiner. He’s a bit of a stickler.

My teacher tells me that it’s very important that I give a recital to supportive friends before the exam.

“You have a grand piano, don’t you?”

“No. I’m afraid not.”

“Well find someone who does, or you could wheel your piano out of where it is and find someone to play for you. It’s so important.”

In my teacher’s world, you can magic up a salon with grand piano and virtuoso sight-reading pianist at a finger click. I do not live in her world.
