I have made a point of avoiding the kitchen and all who work in it today, partly because last week’s tirades have embarrassed me and partly because I need a break.

So instead I chose to walk the boys in Dulwich Park and managed to lose Raffles for an hour. I reported it to @Doglost on Twitter and, at the time of writing this, 217 had retweeted my plea. If you’re reading this, can you stop now please? Thanks.

The scoundrel had slipped off to the café where everyone thought he was cute of course. I had just given up the search – in the cold and rain – and was heading home thinking I should put my name on the list for Flatcoat Rescue when the phone rang and it was the café, telling me that he was there. HE didn’t even look pleased to see me, the wretch.

Anyway here’s what we have so far. There’s a gaping hole that will filled by the new (ahem) oven and the electrician is supposedly coming again tomorrow to actually connect the appliances, lights and hob. There’s still quite a lot of work left to do, actually so I’m not letting myself rejoice yet but I think some strides were made today. I’m concerned about the underfloor, which doesn’t seem to work anymore, but perhaps it’s easily fixable. I hope so. It’s pretty chilly tonight. What a disappointing summer it’s been!

Nonetheless we have had to postpone getting our stuff out of storage for the time being, mainly because the revised internal doors are supposed to be arriving tomorrow morning and we didn’t want people to trip over each other. So maybe a few more days for phase one completion and probably some weeks yet for full completion. It’s still quite frustrating.
