Aerial view of today’s work. That blocky thing will be the retaining wall.
Look! The spare bedroom has become the laundry!
The music room to be has become the living room. Note the breathtakingly beautiful view from the dining table over towards the builders’ loo.
I shall be saying farewell to this sitting room/music room. The wall separating the sitting room from the original breakfast room will be reconstituted. In a couple of weeks, this will all be sealed off and demolished to create two new rooms. Note the cream carpets that work oh so well with dogs.
Say farewell to my old kitchen. The missing cupboard doors are a folksy touch, I feel. I thought I’d better remember to take a “before” picture.
And the laundry/utility room has become the new temporary kitchen.
Haven’t they worked hard? My house is playing musical rooms a little like the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party or the Faraway Tree.
Loads of stuff has gone into storage and in a couple of weeks time the back of the house will be sealed off and we’ll be living in just the front room and the temporary kitchen (and out stuff-packed bedrooms) for two months. Let’s hope it doesn’t run over.
Then there’s the garden to think of, reorganise and plant. This is causing us a few nightmares at the moment but I hope we’ll find a way through.
I’ve spent most of the day catching up with the second tranche of the Boywonder’s ironing but now I’m off for fish and chips and a beer!
